Food Safety and Quality Control by Encik Elen and Encik Shukri


Premise Inspection
These activities covers over 400 premises in Padang Terap including canteens, hostels, stalls, restaurants, PLKN etc.
Each premise is inspected at least once a year and graded accordingly (A, B, C).

Elements of a Premise Inspection:

4.     Education













Food Sampling
Sampling may be formal (enforcement purposes) or informal (surveillance purposes).
The officer, after paying for the food to the person selling the food, can ask for, choose and obtain the sample for analysis. 

Parameters include
1.     Microbiological
2.     Physical
3.     Chemical
a.     Additive
b.     Heavy metal
c.      Antioxidant
d.     Pesticide
e.     Preservatives
f.      Drug veterinary
4.     Biotech

Food samples intended for microbiological investigations must be kept at -4 degrees Celsius and sent within 24 hours.
Perishables and pesticides are sent within 24 hours, whereas other products can be sent the next day.

The samples obtained are generally sent to 3 labs in Malaysia
